Title: Fire Study (Study #3)
Author: Maria V. Snyder
Publish Date: March 1st, 2008

"The Apprenticeship is Over—Now the Real Test has Begun.

When word that Yelena is a Soulfinder—able to capture and release souls—spreads like wildfire, people grow uneasy. Already Yelena's unusual abilities and past have set her apart. As the Council debates Yelena's fate, she receives a disturbing message: a plot is rising against her homeland, led by a murderous sorcerer she has defeated before….

Honor sets Yelena on a path that will test the limits of her skills, and the hope of reuniting with her beloved spurs her onward. Her journey is fraught with allies, enemies, lovers and would-be assassins, each of questionable loyalty. Yelena will have but one chance to prove herself—and save the land she holds dear."

Cover: I'm really liking these new covers! They are very visually attractive and I hope that they get re-released in in hardback and paperback with these covers, since as far as I can tell, they seem to only be for the Kindle edition.

StoryLine: At first, it seemed like we were fighting the same fight we fought last time. So I was a bit discouraged, until I realized that there is a new plotline here. Phew! I should have known that Snyder wouldn't just recycle the same storyline. But still, I found the beginning dragged just a bit. Good thing the rest of the book made up for that! And even though it's the third book of the series, the world building still manages to expand. That's one thing I love about this series, the world just seems so deep and rich and well fleshed out, theres always more to learn.

Characters: A bunch of our old characters are back, and we get to see some character development from some of the previously minor characters. I really liked how some of the characters got more attention and became more fleshed out and real. We get to see more depth to some of the characters, and I love it. Also, I really hope one day we get to see a spin off of Fisk because that boy is awesome.

Parting Thoughts: A really satisfying ending to the trilogy, I would definitely recommend checking this series out! I don't know what took me so long myself.

4.5/5 Stars
